Our story : We combined our passion for justice and coffee. YOLO

More than just coffee…a quest for justice and love.

Our story started in March 2015

Lucky Chango’s story reflects our passion for justice and coffee. We love doing what we believe is good for our children and for their children…and we get to enjoy and share the best coffee around in the process!

Lucky Chango Specialty Coffee’s name was an inspiration of a Lucky Charm ” Lucky Chango” consisting of a monkey that is handmade in Chiapas, Mexico that brings good luck to those who carries it.

Our story. More than just coffee...a quest for justice and love.
Our story. More than just coffee…a quest for justice and love.

At Lucky Chango Specialty Coffee we are inspired everyday by the work of hard working people from small family farms in Latin America: People who take care of their families growing select coffee beans we can enjoy. Farmers who help protect our environment by treating our earth with love and care.

Lucky Chango Specialty Coffee’s goal is to create a positive conversation with all people in our communities, schools, colleges and organizations around issues such as injustice, inequality, etc and a celebration and appreciation of fair trade practices, multiculturalism and social entrepreneurial initiatives in Minnesota. All of these while enjoying what we love: a delicious smooth cup of coffee.

You too can be part of this change. Support us with your purchase or partner with us for your event.

Peace!

Yes. Our experience has shown that individuals who write down their goals have a 50% better chance of achieving their goals.

Knowing how much money you need to raise has the following benefits:

 • It gives your fundraising team a clear goal to work towards
 • Helps you keep the motivation level throughout the campaign
 • It easier to assign a specific sales goal per person/volunteer for your campaign to attain goals; as making it feel an easier goal to reach.
How long should a fundraising campaign event run?

The length of campaign can vary depending on your objectives and the motivation of the fundraisers. Typically, a campaign should be run for 2 – 4 weeks. By setting a specific beginning date and ending date for your fundraiser, it is easier to generate and maintain enthusiasm.

Have a Campaign Leader

You must identify a leader that has the passion and skill to stay engaged during the campaign.

The leader should be organized and have good communication skills. The leader will want to have someone appointed to collect and track the money, and some to help with distribution of the received coffee.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

PERU

Peru balances the second half of the year with fresh coffee from the Southern Hemisphere. Considering the origin’s outright size, abundance of altitude and solid growing conditions, Specialty’s relationship with Peru is underdeveloped and leans heavily on volume-based supply of clean cupping and sustainable certified production.

Peruvian coffee is sourced from Chanchamayo and Jaen, covering the central and northern growing regions, respectively. Each represents a distinct maturation time and quality.

MEXICO

Cooperatives in Chiapas receive harvest financing and technical support.

Coffee keeps through the year, and shiny new equipment means tight preparations and consistent delivery even late in the season. Mexican coffee is back.

Having a local team also means having greater access to small producer groups. We’ve been able to build the sustainable supply base through direct investment, harvest financing and technical support for a handful of cooperatives in Chiapas. It’s a successful model that we’re hoping to replicate elsewhere.

NICARAGUA

The Land of Lakes and Volcanoes. Our Nicaraguan estate relationships are strong and represent the best of what Central America can offer in terms of conservation, cultivation, processing and a consistent quality profile. Outside of estates, cooperatives maintain a major presence and we partner with a few of the best to provide Fair Trade and Fair Trade Organic to roasters in the US, Canada and Europe.

PROFESSIONALLY AND LOCALLY ROASTED

FRESH. LOCAL. All coffee is locally roasted. Always in small batches to guarantee freshness consistently delivered every time. Each batch is hand roasted in small batches to accentuate individual nuances before blending.

We are proud to announce:

“You can order your finest locally roasted coffee with confidence. We bring you not just coffee; but a unique coffee experience you can be part of: taste and smells delicious, builds community, sustainable, empowers small coffee pickers and small cooperatives to attain a better standard of living ….always Fair Trade Certified and Organic Certified”.

Where to begin? try any premium coffee you identify the most with, then we invite you to explore other flavors and start a journey around the world right from your kitchen, office or your car.

When you take the first sip in, close your eyes and feel the greatness to continue empowering people to live a decent live somewhere where it is much needed.

Fair Trade Cuatro Hermanos coffee is a special micro-lot produced by a group of brothers who are members of Unión Ramal Santa Cruz. Their farms are located in Colonia Buena Vista. Unión Ramal Santa Cruz was founded in 2001 and has 604 members living in 6 communities within the municipality of La Concordia, Chiapas, Mexico. Coffee is grown on small family-owned farms in the Sierra Madre mountain range along the eastern edge of El Triunfo biosphere reserve, which is home to more than 800 plant species and 390 bird species. Farmers process coffee with their own micro-wet mills and dry the coffee in the sun on patios before transporting the coffee in parchment to a centrally located dry mill facility where the coffee is prepared for export. Unión Ramal Santa Cruz is also completing construction on a production plant that will convert cow manure into concentrated organic fertilizer.
